1531 - Probable discovery of Paraty.
1597 - The Expedition of Martim Corrêa de Sá passed through Paraty while traveling to Minas Gerais.
1640 - The "villa" moves from the "Forte Defensor Perpétuo" hill to its permanent location.
1646 - The first chapel is built and dedicated to "N. S. dos Remédios". Made of bamboo and clay.
1660 - A popular revolution takes place to emancipate Paraty from Angra dos Reis.
1667 - Paraty is raised to the title of "villa" 1703 - The " Defensor Perpétuo" fort is built.
1712 - Construction of the second chapel dedicated to "Nossa Senhora
dos Remédios". This time built of masonry.
1720 - The "Vila N. S. dos Remédios" is annexed by the government of São Paulo.
1720 - The church "N.S. da Conceição", in Paraty-Mirim is built. It is the oldest in Paraty.
1722 - The "Santa Rita" church is built.
1726 - By official decree Paraty is separated from São Paulo and the town returns to the jurisdiction of Rio de Janeiro
1787 - The final construction of the "Matriz of N. S. dos Remédios" church begins.
1813 - Paraty becomes a county.
1822 - The "Casa da Misericórdia" (hospital) is founded.
1844 - Paraty receives the right to be called "cidade".
1945 - Paraty is declared a state historical monument.
1950 - The Paraty-Cunha road is opened (but not paved).
1958 - Paraty is declared a "Patrimônio Histórico e Artistico Nacional".
1966 - Paraty becomes a national historic monument.
1973 - The Rio Santos road is opened increasing the access to Paraty.
