01 - 05 – Carnival -
Paraty boasts a lively street carnival with
"blocos" (carnival groups) and masks galore. On Saturday of
carnival, the traditional "bloco da lama" (block of the Mud),
parades with almost 2000 participants.

21 - 24 – Paraty Cultural

28 – Anniversary of Paraty - 339th. Anniversary of Paraty:
The Secretary of Tourism promotes several events on this date in commemoration of the town's birthday.

16 - 23 – Easter Week
(Historic Center) Several processions take
place during Easter Week. At midnight on Thursday the Procession
of "Fogaréu" (a torch procession) takes place.

02 - 11 – Divino Espírito Santo Festival -
This festival
originated in the middle ages in Portugal. Presentation of typical
dances, folkloric puppets, music, processions and fireworks all
take place. This is one of the most popular and beautiful
festivals and always attracts crowds.

22 – Corpus Christi
- (Historic Center) Paraty is decorated with
flowers and pieces of sacred art. The streets are decorated with
"rugs" formed with leaves and colored sawdust.

13-22 Festival of Santa Rita:
(Historic Center) On the day of the party, the Santa Rita Church is richly ornamented in the fashion of the XVIII century, and a solemn mass takes place followed by a procession and the presentation of folkloric dances.

21 - 24 –
XXVI Pinga Festival of Paraty: (Historic Center) The stills that produce the pinga (sugar cane liquor) of Paraty organize the party where you can taste several varieties of pinga. Top Brazilian bands perform and the party goes late.

This "carnival" brings together different centers of afro-Brazilian culture with presentations of ethnic carnival troupes. (Quilombo do Campinho)

12 - 14 – Opening of Christmas Season

31  - New Years:
At 23:30h in the 31, tourists and inhabitants go to the beach of Pontal where there is live music and a beautiful fireworks display. The party continues until dawn.
