17km from town - bus or car (unpaved road)

Paraty-Mirim was an important port in the past where slaves whose destiny was to labor in the plantations in São Paulo were disembarked. Today you can still visit the church of "Nossa Senhora da Conceição" (1686), the oldest in Paraty.

A relaxing and enjoyable afternoon can be spent at the calm beach with it's traditional beach bars and restaurants. You can also find small inns and a pier for the local fishing boats. On the way to the beach you will pass a Guaianás Indian Reservation, "protected" by FUNAI (government indigenous peoples protection organization).

How To Get There

By Car: Take the Rio-Santos road in the direction of São Paulo for 10 Km from the trafic circle and turn left. The road is unpaved but passable.

By Boat: Talk with the boats on the pier and compare prices.

By Bus: A bus line runs directly to Paraty-Mirim. For times call 3371-1224.
